FAQS

Horse, pony and donkey lovers of all ages.

Just £48 per year (Less than £1.00 per week) we hope that you will pay by direct debit as this method costs us less in administration. You can choose to pay the total amount or a monthly contribution of £4.50 if you prefer. It’s easy to Sponsor online at www.happa.org.uk but if you prefer you can apply by post.

Your contribution will directly support our rehabilitation and rehoming programme and ensure that the animal you have chosen to sponsor will receive the best possible opportunity of finding their Forever Home. When you decide to become a HAPPA Second Chance Sponsor you can choose your favourite horse, pony or donkey from the animals currently available. To reward you for your kindness you will then receive your welcome pack.

We employ staff members with specialist skills to help each animal through a bespoke rehabilitation process. Our Equine Trainer is AI trained and many of our staff are Intelligent Horsemanship practitioners. All HAPPA Equine Care Officers are trained to at least BHS Level 2 in Equine Care and we make use of a variety of complementary and standard therapies to give each animal the best possible chance of rehabilitation. This structured and supportive environment is expensive and your sponsorship will support the work of our rehab’ team, the work of our small but very effective rehoming team who head our efforts in finding the right home for each animal and our excellent inspection and aftercare service once the animal is rehomed, for the total duration of its life.

Most of our animals can be visited. Depending on the time of year, some may be in their stable; others may be enjoying time in the fields. Many of our fields have viewing opportunities so there is a good chance you will be able to meet your chosen animal. You may have the opportunity to view your sponsored horse or pony in the Indoor or Outdoor Arenas being exercised during opening times. A few animals may prefer you not to visit when they have just begun rehabilitation but we will advise you of this in their sponsorship listing.

Sadly no. You may be able to visit but it could interrupt their rehabilitation programme if we offered grooming sessions as with our previous adoption scheme. Also some animals may not have a temperament that can cope with regular interaction with novice horse lovers and children.

Some animals will be more popular than others but we hope that each animal will attract lots of sponsors that will help to support their rehabilitation and rehoming programme.
