HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association) have launched a new initiative to raise funds during Lockdown.
The Charity is hosting monthly horse shows for the general public to compete with their own horse or pony via the Charity’s dedicated Facebook page.
HAPPA hopes that the new online shows will raise much needed funds, during these challenging times, to enable them to continue to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome equines from cruelty and neglect.
April Manning, HAPPA’s Digital Communications Manager explains “We realised that many horse owners will just be travelling to care for their equine everyday, but will be missing the fun and excitement that competing gives. Our online Shows will bring a little bit of fun to lockdown, but more importantly people will be able to share their beautiful animals with our community.’’
We are also very excited to announce a special judge for some of the classes, Robert Parker-Jones. Robert has been on many horse and pony judging panels including the Welsh, Connemara and New Forest panels. He has judged The Horse of the Year Show and Royal International Horse Show several times.
Robert has also been a judge at most major shows in Britain including Royal Windsor, Royal Welsh, Royal Highland and Great Yorkshire. And, has been lucky enough to be invited to judge in Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
April says, “We are absolutely thrilled and honoured that Robert has agreed to volunteer his time to judge some of the classes for the HAPPA Online Horse Show.’’
The HAPPA Online Show is available on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/happaonlineshow. Entry is just £3 per class and can be paid by contacting HAPPA through the dedicated page.
Rosettes will be awarded for 1st to 4th place and the winner of each class will be entered into a final class ‘Supreme Champion’. The winner of the class will win a voucher for The Fussy Filly, coverage on our social media channels and a place in our printed magazine.
