Ken Cranage Memorial Award for Services to Equine Welfare Shortlist Announced

March 29, 2019

Many of you will have fond memories of HAPPA’s President Ken Cranage. Next week we host The Ken Cranage Memorial Ball in his memory, to be held at James Hargreaves Suite, Burnley Football Club on Saturday 6th April.

During the evening we will announce the winner of the Ken Cranage Memorial Award of Services to Equine Welfare. This Award recognises those within the Industry for their services to horses, ponies and donkeys, and who go above and beyond for those who need it the most.

Nominations have been received and we are delighted to announce the shortlist:-

Ryan Rouse from Bransby Horses

Ryan has dedicated his life for nearly ten years to Equine Welfare while employed at Bransby Horses Rescue & Welfare, Lincoln. He has gone over and above the call of duty to help equines who have been abandoned, neglected and badly treated, working well over the hours that he is employed for.
Sophie Kendrick, Hope Pastures
Over these past 15 years Sophie has been the driving force behind the transformation of Hope Pastures. She has inspired the sanctuary, staff, trustees and volunteers with her positive attitude and determination.
Di Arbuthnot, Retraining of Racehorses
Di has been instrumental in offering a second chance to vulnerable ex-racehorses by leading the Charity, Retraining of Racehorses.
Tracy Capper, HAPPA
Equine Inspector Tracy Capper is an asset to Equine Welfare, her approach is very effective and she has made improvements for horses throughout the North West.
Morgan Standen, HAPPA
Morgan heads up the Equine Training at HAPPA and is our very own horse whisperer, she produces a string of rescue horses to a high standard and does everything sympathetically without a fight.

Our judging panel have studied the nominations in time for next week’s event, we cannot wait to see who the winner is!
