HAPPA McCoy came into the Centre after a collaborative effort involving HAPPA and World Horse Welfare, enabling the rescue of a herd of 40 Welsh Mountain Ponies.

When McCoy first arrived at the Centre it was clear he had not had handling for a very long time, if ever. McCoy’s assigned care officer spent hours working with him, getting him used to handling and basic care such as grooming, accepting a head collar, leading and having his feet picked out.

Today McCoy is a very lovable inquisitive chap. He enjoys a good groom and will stand all day for a pamper and fuss. He is still a little nervous for his feet but he improves every day. McCoy is a little nervous for the Vet and farrier but again improves every time. He just needs holding by a familiar handler and given reassurance.

McCoy is looking for a home as a companion, he is an older boy however has a clean bill of health and will happily turn out with mares and geldings with no problems. Weight management of this breed needs to be considered as laminitis is always a risk with ponies of this type.

He is up to date with all his worming and vaccinations.
