HAPPA Dobby’s Rescue

In December 2017, HAPPA Dobby became a part of a significant rescue operation. He was discovered in a pitiable condition, unable to stand, and severely malnourished. His living quarters were deplorable—a small stall filled with horse waste, devoid of essential provisions like hay and water. Tragically, among the horses found, one did not survive.

Immediate action was taken under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Dobby was seized, and legal proceedings were initiated against his owners. At merely 12 months old during his rescue, Dobby suffered from overgrown feet and thrush in all hoofs. His body condition score was alarmingly low at 0.5, and he was burdened with a heavy infestation of lice and worms. The environment he endured was entirely unsuitable for any horse’s well-being.

However, through dedicated and intensive care, Dobby has made an astonishing recovery. With time and proper attention, his health has vastly improved. Today, he stands as a testament to resilience and the transformative power of compassion. Despite the hardships he faced early in life, Dobby has now found his Forever Home—a place where he is loved, cared for, and can thrive.

His journey serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of animal welfare and the need for stringent enforcement of laws to protect vulnerable creatures. Every creature deserves to live a life free from neglect and suffering. Dobby’s story highlights the impact that intervention and rehabilitation can have, offering hope and inspiration to all who encounter it.
