Horse lovers across the UK are being encouraged to consider leaving a gift in their Will to help protect vulnerable horses for generations to come, as HAPPA marks Remember a Charity Week 2026.

Registered Charity Horse and Pony Protection Association (HAPPA) is inviting supporters to discover how a gift in their Will could make a lasting difference to horses who have experienced neglect, abuse and, or abandonment.

Taking place as part of Remember a Charity Week 2026 from 7 to the 13 September, the campaign provides an opportunity for people to find out more about legacy giving and the vital role it plays in securing the future of horse welfare.

For one week only, supporters who take the next step with HAPPA can benefit from a range of special offers and experiences. Anyone who pledges to leave a legacy to HAPPA or joins the Charity’s Peace of Mind Scheme during Remember a Charity Week will receive a complimentary HAPPA Lifetime Membership. Supporters who enquire about leaving a gift in their Will during the week will also receive a limited-edition HAPPA lapel badge.

As part of the event, HAPPA is also opening its doors for a series of FREE Heritage Open Days at Shores Hey Farm, giving visitors the chance to explore the Charity’s fascinating history. Guests can enjoy a guided tour of The Evolution of Equine Welfare Museum, followed by an engaging presentation exploring HAPPA’s remarkable 89-year history of protecting horses and promoting better equine welfare. The Heritage Open Days will take place on 12, 16 and 18 September, with visitors encouraged to book their place in advance.

HAPPA’s legacy campaign highlights how even a gift left in a Will can have a profound and enduring impact. Legacy donations help fund the essential work involved in rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming horses, including veterinary treatment, safe shelter, nutritious feed and specialist care.

Sarah Arthur, HAPPA CEO says of the week, “A gift in your Will is one of the most powerful ways to help protect horses in need long into the future. Remember a Charity Week gives us a wonderful opportunity to start those conversations and show supporters exactly how their legacy could make a difference.

Whether someone is ready to make a pledge today or simply wants to learn more about the options available, we want to make the process as straightforward and reassuring as possible. For many supporters, leaving a charitable gift in their Will is a way to continue supporting a cause they care deeply about, creating a legacy that can help vulnerable horses for years to come.”

HAPPA is encouraging anyone considering leaving a gift in their Will – or simply curious about how legacy giving works – to use Remember a Charity Week as an opportunity to find out more.
