Khaleesi, a 15hh Trotter X Piebald mare born in 2015, has a poignant story of resilience and recovery. Her journey began when she entered the Centre as part of a multi-agency rescue operation, bearing the scars of neglect and hardship. Upon arrival, she was unhandled, plagued by lice, with overgrown feet, and battling a severe worm infestation. Alongside two other yearlings, one being her daughter. Khaleesi embarked on a path to healing and rehabilitation under the dedicated care of the Equine Care Team.
Despite her challenging start, Khaleesi’s transformation has been remarkable. Through patience, perseverance, and tender care, she has learned the basics of equine behavior and manners. The Equine Care Team diligently worked to acclimate her to human interaction, address her health issues, and ensure her physical well-being. However, despite her progress, Khaleesi’s conformation rendered her unsuitable for riding, a realization met with a mix of disappointment and acceptance.
Nevertheless, Khaleesi’s journey is far from over. She eagerly awaits a forever home where she can thrive under the care of experienced and compassionate individuals. Ideally, she seeks a setting with daily handling and ample turnout space, where she can enjoy the company of a small group of fellow equines. While initially wary of new environments and people, Khaleesi possesses a gentle spirit and a heart of gold, ready to bond deeply after a settling-in period.
With her amiable nature and adaptability to both mares and geldings, Khaleesi promises to be a delightful addition to any equine family. However, she still requires an experienced home willing to continue her journey of growth and trust-building. Through patience, understanding, and unwavering support, Khaleesi is poised to flourish and embrace the love and care she truly deserves.
