HAPPA Marble's Story
Hi, I’m Marble,
For a long time, I was alone. I’d been bought as a companion pony, but when the other horse left, I was forgotten. Left in a field with little contact, no handling, and no care. My feet grew long, I became hard to catch, and I didn’t know what it felt like to be loved.
Thankfully, someone noticed I needed help. My owners signed me over to HAPPA to give me the chance of a better life. That’s when I came to Shores Hey Farm.
When I arrived, I was scared and unsure. Everything was unfamiliar, and I didn’t know who to trust. But the people here were patient. They didn’t force me, they gave me time to breathe, and I slowly began to feel safe.
Because of that, I let the vet check me over. She found I don’t have full vision in my left eye and that my teeth were sharp and uncomfortable. But nobody judged me, they just wanted to help.
The team told me my eyes are special. One of them looks like a marble, which is how I got my name. Horses like me are sometimes called “wall-eyed” or “blue-eyed,” and I have pink skin around my eyelids too.
Now, I’m starting to find my feet. I’m learning to enjoy company again, and soon I’ll get my much-needed trim from the farrier. I’m also slowly being introduced to other horses, something I’ve missed more than I realised.
This is only the beginning of my journey, but I finally feel like I matter. With HAPPA’s care, and help from kind sponsors, I have a real chance to heal and start again.
Love,
Marble x
