The HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association) Team were delighted to welcome employees from Dechra, global specialist in veterinary pharmaceuticals, to volunteer for the Charity this week.

Employees from the company were involved with the equine charity as part of the company’s socio-economic policy to give back to the local community.

HAPPA’s annual spring clean of the stables, buildings and outdoor areas is a mammoth task and it was granted a huge boost by 18 employees from Dechra, who got stuck in and made a huge difference over two days at the Charity’s Shores Hey Farm.

HAPPA’s Julie Pharaoh-Gan explains,

“The Dechra team worked extremely hard painting, power washing and getting stuck in removing the weeds across the visitor areas. The Farm really does look different due to the team volunteering their time to help. The stables look nice and fresh; I just hope that the ponies appreciate their new-look bedrooms when they come back in from the fields. I would like to say a huge thank you to the Dechra team for thinking of us when they chose their voluntary day.”

Members of the Dechra team, based in Skipton, said,

“It was a real pleasure to take part in our volunteering day at HAPPA. Our team really enjoyed getting stuck in with the required tasks. We were made to feel incredibly welcome by the HAPPA staff, who looked after us brilliantly throughout the day. It was great to give something back and support such a fantastic local charity – and we especially enjoyed the delicious meal in the on-site café! We all left feeling proud of what we’d achieved and inspired by the amazing work HAPPA does.”

“We had a lovely couple of days and all the feedback I’ve had has been brilliant! Everyone enjoyed their day and were really interested to learn about HAPPA! the whole site is lovely, and it was great to see what wonderful condition the horses and ponies are all in after so many of them having had a difficult past. It’s a real credit to the entire HAPPA team and we are really pleased to support such a worthy local charity. We have all said we want to come back and volunteer again and will also be visiting with our families for a day out!”

“Thank you so much for having us – we will definitely be back!”

Julie continues “Volunteers are vital to HAPPA. Whether you can offer up a few hours as an individual or are looking for a day out of the office as a team, you could make a difference. We would really like to hear from you.”
