Happa Awards Recognise Outstanding Individuals

June 2, 2021

HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association) are calling on members of the public to get involved in nominating individuals that deserve recognition for two awards that the Charity present annually. Both awards are presented to outstanding individuals in the community that deserve recognition for their contributions to HAPPA.

The Admiral Memorial ‘Dr Joy Faulkner’ Trophy is in memory of Admiral, Dr Faulkner’s beloved horse that sadly passed away in 1978. The Award has been previously presented to volunteers, supporters, fundraisers and professionals who go above and beyond for HAPPA.

The Charity are also receiving nominations for the Mona Huskie Award, in honour of the Charity’s founder. This award has recognised the care and devotion of those who offer a loving Forever Home to HAPPA horses, ponies or donkeys. For the first time in its history the Charity are now welcoming nominations for this award from other animal welfare organisations or from any individual who would like to recognise that special person offering a Forever Home to an equine in need.

Julie Pharaoh-Gan, HAPPA Head of Marketing and Fundraising, says of the Awards “There are so many individuals that contribute to equine welfare, and HAPPA, that deserve recognition for all their hard work and commitment. It is exciting to be able to offer the Mona Huskie Award to any individual that has offered a second chance and a forever home to a rescued horse, pony or donkey. Our founder Mona Huskie would be extremely proud.”

HAPPA are appealing for all their supporters, friends and colleagues to get behind the Awards and nominate outstanding individuals online. For the Mona Huskie Award HAPPA – The Mona Huskie Award Survey ( Admiral Memorial Award HAPPA – The Admiral Memorial Award Survey (
