HAPPA are pleased to announce that we have joined with Children’s University to become a Public Learning Destination at Shores Hey Farm.

November 13, 2017

Children’s University is a national programme that provides 5 to 14 year olds with exciting and innovative learning activities and experiences outside normal school hours. Children are rewarded for participation in voluntary learning activities that will develop their skills and raise aspirations for the future.
Children are provided with a Passport to Learning for them to collect stamps as proof of their learning. The project is ran through schools, who collect the total number of credits each term.
Generally, students gain one stamp for every hour of learning they participate in. Young people can gain credits from participating in school lead activities or from learning at verified ‘Public Learning Destinations’.
Culminating in an inspirational Graduation Ceremony, this adventure encourages children to see the joy of learning, giving a sense of wonder in the world around them and develops their confidence and aspirations for the brightest futures.
An important principle of the Children’s University is that participation is voluntary. Every time a student takes part in one hour of voluntary learning they gain credits towards Children’s University. Once registered through school, young people can gain credits from participating in school lead activities or from learning at verified “Public Learning Destinations”.
Children who are participating in Children’s University can bring their ‘Passport to Learning’ along to HAPPA and have it signed and stamped for participating in either the Welly Walk or Ponies for You.
For children with ‘Passports’:-
Collect your Welly Walk sheet from Reception, for just £1, and enjoy the delights of the flora and fauna of the Thursden Valley with your family. Upon returning to Reception, please collect a stamp for one hour of learning with HAPPA.
Alternatively you can book on Ponies 4 You and receive 1.5 hours of learning each time you attend. Ponies 4 You looks at responsibility, understanding and gaining new skills for ages 8 -12 years old.
Split into 5 levels each level will build on knowledge from the previous; interacting with both hands on experience and theory based experience, a log of all work completed will allow individuals to go back time and time again as reminders. Attendees will also work towards gaining Bronze, Silver and Gold rewards.
Ponies 4 You runs on selected Saturdays and Tuesdays during the holidays 11am- 12.30pm. Buy in a block of 6 sessions for just £40 or pay weekly at £7.50 per session.
We look forward to welcoming Passport to Learning Students to Shores Hey Farm soon.
