HAPPA Novelty Dog Show A Huge Success

June 3, 2015

Due to popular demand the HAPPA Novelty Dog Show returned this year at Towneley Hall Playing Fields in Burnley on Sunday 31st May. A fantastic day was enjoyed by all in spite of the windy Lancashire weather.
The Show had something for every canine companion with eleven classes available to enter; Most Handsome Dog, Cutest Puppy, Prettiest Bitch, Best Rescue 7+, Junior Handler, Best Condition Short Haired, Best Condition Long Haired, Most Appealing Eyes, Waggiest Tail, Cleverest Dog, and Best Rescue which was sponsored by Pendle Dogs in Need.
Classes were judged by Tom Henderson of Stanley House Veterinary Surgeons, who also provided sponsorship for the event. Rosettes were awarded for all classes up to fourth place with all first and second places being automatically entered into the Championship at the end. All first places also received a free photo shoot worth £150 with Trevor Adams Studios, Accrington.
The Champion was awarded a rosette, trophy and doggy hamper, with reserve champion receiving a rosette and doggy hamper.
There were also stalls from Traci and Leanne Crafts, Burnley and Pendle Cats Protection, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Millie and Ruby’s Dog Bakery and PetStay East Lancs and Bury. A bouncy castle was provided for the youngsters but unfortunately had to leave due to the windy weather conditions making play unsafe.
Julie Rickwood-Gan explains “The HAPPA team had such a fantastic response to last year’s Novelty Dog Show that we knew we had to run this event again. So many HAPPA supporters, followers and friends own dogs and it was a great opportunity to show off your canine companion in a fun and enjoyable day. I am pleased to announce that we raised over £1,000 for HAPPA at this year’s Novelty Dog Show. We look forward to hosting two more shows next year, a return to Towneley and one in the new facilities at Shores Hey Farm”.
