Pepper

Pepper’s journey to safety unfolded through our Cross Agency Transfer Agreement, following a rescue operation on a desolate Welsh common alongside her companions Toffee and Bunny. Upon arrival, Pepper bore the physical and emotional scars of her harsh environment, displaying signs of severe emaciation and deep-seated fear.

Initially, Pepper’s wild nature made any form of interaction challenging, as she recoiled at the slightest attempt to approach her. Her protective instincts heightened upon the birth of her foal, necessitating a cautious approach to ensure their well-being. Understanding the delicate balance, our team exercised patience and restraint, allowing her the space she needed to bond with her newborn without undue interference.

When weaning her foal, Salt, Pepper began to undergo a remarkable transformation. With each passing day, she grew more receptive to human presence, gradually allowing us to handle and touch her. Basic care, such as tending to her hooves, became possible as her trust in us deepened.

Pepper’s journey is a testament to the incredible resilience of horses and the profound impact of patient, compassionate care. Through unwavering dedication and gentle guidance, she continues to defy the odds, emerging from her traumatic past to embrace a future filled with hope and healing.
