HAPPA is thrilled to announce exciting plans for the improvements of stables located at the organization’s Shores Hey Farm in Burnley, Lancashire. These stables, integral to the farm’s historic infrastructure, have provided sanctuary for countless rescued equines since HAPPA’s relocation to Shores Hey Farm in 1984. Despite their enduring service, the passage of time has necessitated repairs and renovations, making it imperative to address structural issues, particularly concerning the roofs of three stables and attached support buildings.
Fortunately, through the generous support of the Petplan Charitable Trust, HAPPA has secured funding to facilitate these much-needed improvements. This transformative contribution not only ensures the preservation of these vital facilities but also enables HAPPA to continue its mission of providing shelter and care for rescued horses and ponies.

In addition to addressing structural concerns, the funding from Petplan Charitable Trust enables HAPPA to enhance the stables’ interiors with the installation of additional rubber matting, further optimizing the welfare and comfort of the resident equines.
Catherine Bourg, representing Petplan Charitable Trust, expressed her delight in partnering with HAPPA on this project, emphasizing the importance of providing a safe and secure environment for rescued animals. The Trust’s commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit animal welfare underscores their dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of animals in need.
Julie Pharaoh-Gan, HAPPA’s Head of Marketing and Fundraising, conveyed profound gratitude to Petplan Charitable Trust for their pivotal role in realizing this project. Acknowledging the significant undertaking involved, Pharaoh-Gan highlighted the indispensable nature of the Trust’s contribution, enabling HAPPA to expedite the renovation process and swiftly reintroduce the stables for the housing of rescued equines.
Reflecting on HAPPA’s journey since its inception at Shores Hey Farm and recognizing the ongoing evolution of the organization, Pharaoh-Gan emphasized the significance of this project as a milestone in the farm’s continued development. With anticipation and excitement, she affirmed HAPPA’s commitment to collaborating with Padiham Roofing to bring this project to fruition.
During the renovation period, certain areas of the farm may be temporarily inaccessible to visitors. However, HAPPA is committed to minimizing disruptions and will provide regular updates via social media channels and other communication platforms, ensuring transparency and engagement with supporters throughout the process.
