Happa’s Grand Opening

HAPPA celebrated completion of their development project at Shores Hey Farm Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre by staging a Grand Opening on Saturday 5th September.
During the day there were displays in the Indoor Arena by the HAPPA team and equines, Parelli and Hannah Doggett dressage rider. At the Entertainment Area there was Lancashire themed song, dance and poetry throughout the day with The Lancashire Society, Rossendale Clog Heritage and David Leach.

Cooper’s Critters provided talks and handling sessions with their unusual animals throughout the day in the new Briercliffe Suite. There was also a variety of stalls by HAPPA, other animal charities, crafts and photography, and children’s fun with a bouncy castle. Lancashire Fire Service demonstrated how they rescue horses with a display using HAPPA’s very own plastic horse Horace.

The Owls Trust were also onsite allowing guests to get up close to rescued owls and giving insight about the lives of owls.

HAPPA’s farrier Miles Pollard showed how to shoe a HAPPA horse and how to trim a pony’s feet at 1.30pm.
The new Scullery café hosted a variety of menu tasters throughout the day for guests to sample the delicious new menu and an appetising hog roast was also be available.

HAPPA’s mascot Tommy Trotter was greeting youngsters throughout the day and held his Birthday Party in The Scullery at 2pm for 6 children who were picked from a prize draw to join him.

Lots of canine companions enjoyed a trial run around the agility equipment or tried their luck with the doggy tombola.
