June 2, 2017

HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association) held their third annual Dog Show on Sunday 22nd May at Towneley Park, Burnley.
Over 100 dogs turned up to enter the eight fun classes ranging from Best Puppy to Fancy Dress.

From magnificent mongrels to gorgeous Great Danes a whole host of different sizes, colours and breeds competed to get their paws on some fantastic prizes.
All first and second places were entered into a Grand Finale where the overall Champion was awarded to a lovely dog named Teddy and her young handlers and Reserve Champion was awarded to a pretty dog named Ellie, who had been dressed as a flamenco dancer in the Fancy Dress class.
Julie Rickwood-Gan, HAPPA’s Development Officer explains “It was lovely to see so many people with their canine companions come along and participate for fun. The junior handler’s class was especially great to see; so many young people who clearly love their dog. Everyone who attended had a fabulous time, with many going away with rosettes or prizes. A special thank you must go to all the HAPPA Volunteers who helped run the event, Burnley Borough Council, Pets at Home and everyone who attended to make this another fantastic Show.”
Over £900 was raised for HAPPA to allow the Charity to continue to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome horses, ponies and donkeys.
