Percy’s Festive Day Out

Percy’s Festive Day Out – The Equine Education Team and one of our Education Ponies, the infamous Percy have been to visit Simonstone St Peter’s, Church of England Primary School this week. Percy welcomed the children as part of the outdoor based Christmas Festivities on site. Percy had his best Christmas outfit on alongside his Elves Kelly (Equine Education & Engagement Manager) and Annie (Equine Care Officer). He greeted the children, allowing them to give him a pet and a fuss while his Elf’s provided information about HAPPA and all the fun activities they could do back on site at Shores Hey Farm.

“It was a fabulous festive afternoon to be had with the children and Percy. Seeing the children’s faces light up with joy as they walked around the corner to find a Shetland Pony in their playground was amazing , I don’t think they believed he was real until they got closer as its not something you expect to see in the school playground!

It was also nice to see some familiar faces from our Own a Pony Days and regular visitors too. The visit was aimed to spread some festive cheer as well as the vital work that we do here at HAPPA, which is to educate the next generation of horse enthusiasts through a practical way of learning, whilst still having fun and making new friends along the way, in both humans and ponies!”

Percy is one of our Education ponies and gets involved with most of our education days and courses. He loves making new friends with visitors to Shores Hey Farm, but he especially loves the VIP Sponsorship Days as he gets lots of cuddles from his Sponsors.
