The Café at Shores Hey Farm Embarks on Exciting Refurbishment Journey

The Café at Shores Hey Farm, a beloved fixture in the local community, is set to undergo an exciting refurbishment and upgrade. Scheduled to close its doors temporarily from 3rd June, The Café will reopen on 19th July, unveiling a transformed space aimed at enhancing customer experience and accommodating growing demand.

Since its reopening post-pandemic, the Café at Shores Hey Farm has gained tremendous support from the local community and charity supporters alike. The outpouring of support has been instrumental in furthering the mission of the charity, HAPPA (Horses and Ponies Protection Association), and ensuring a brighter future for neglected equines.

To meet the evolving needs of its customers and expand its culinary offerings, The Café will be undergoing a significant refurbishment. The existing kitchen will be extended and refitted to better accommodate the chefs, who have been challenged by space constraints while striving to meet the increasing demand for their delectable creations. Additionally, the refurbishment will result in improved facilities, including a larger floor space on the second floor, enhancing the experience for visiting businesses using the adjoining meeting rooms.

The refurbishment project has been made possible through the generous legacy left to the charity by a devoted HAPPA supporter. This transformative gift underscores the enduring commitment of the community to the well-being of neglected equines and the mission of HAPPA.

During the closure for refurbishment, visitors need not worry about missing their favourite treats. A converted horse trailer will be stationed outside HAPPA’s Reception, serving up a tantalising array of burgers, hot dogs, breakfast sandwiches, sweet treats and both hot and cold beverages. The trailer will be open from 7th June to 14th Jul, from 11am to 3pm, seven days a week, ensuring that visitors to Shores Hey Farm can still enjoy delicious food and drink during the renovations.

Sarah Arthur, Chief Executive Officer of HAPPA, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support received for The Café, stating, ‘’I am deeply humbled by the support shown for the Café at Shores Hey Farm,  this is the next stepping stone in the mission to becoming financially stable as a Charity, enabling us to carry on the core objective ‘To Strive to Offer a Second Chance to Neglected, Abused and Unwanted Equines’, everyone that has eaten a meal, enjoyed a brew or just a piece of cake in The Café is part of this journey.’’

Andy and the Café team will continue to work diligently during the refurbishment, operating from a catering van onsite. They eagerly anticipate welcoming patrons back to the new and improved café upon its completion.
