Treacle’s Triumphant Turnaround

Treacle’s journey is a testament to resilience and hope. She was abandoned by her owner during a difficult foaling, left to die in agony. Fortunately, HAPPA stepped in, and with the assistance of the council, Treacle was rescued and rushed for life-saving surgery to remove her deceased foal.

After a brief stay at the veterinary clinic, Treacle arrived at HAPPA for further treatment and rehabilitation. She was in a dire state—underweight, nervous, infested with lice, and with painfully overgrown hooves. She required intensive care and a lot of patience. Following her treatment and isolation period, Treacle moved to the main yard where she learned to have her back feet handled without kicking. She was put on a special diet to help her gain weight and was gradually introduced to turnout.

Treacle’s story is a poignant reminder of the resilience and strength that horses possess, even in the face of extreme neglect and cruelty. Thanks to the unwavering dedication and compassion of our team at HAPPA, Treacle has made a remarkable recovery. She has left behind the pain and hardship, and now she flourishes in an environment filled with love and care.

Today, Treacle is not just surviving but thriving, looking forward to a future brimming with hope and happiness. Her transformation is a testament to the incredible work done by our staff and volunteers, who have given her a second chance at life.
