I was one of three equines rescued during a busy festive period in a joint operation with another welfare agency. Alongside my fellow young colt HAPPA Toivo, I was brought to safety at HAPPA’s Shores Hey Farm in Burnley after suffering neglect at the hands of my previous owner. Both of us, whose names mean “Hope”, arrived underweight and unwell, needing urgent care, treatment for infection and round-the-clock support to give us the best chance of survival.

Sadly, a young mare rescued with us was found severely emaciated and suffering from serious health complications, and despite intensive care from the HAPPA team and veterinarians, she could not be saved. Her loss makes my rescue even more poignant. Now safe, loved and receiving the specialist rehabilitation I need, I represent the second chance HAPPA works so hard to provide, with the hope that, in time, I can recover fully and find the care and affection I deserve in a forever home.
